Kathryn Boyde is a New Zealander who calls Whakatane, the sunshine capital, her home.
Kathryn writes, blogs and looks after her two children.
Kathryn studied at the Auckland University of Technology for three years and in 1998 graduated with a Bachelor of Communication Studies, majoring in Journalism.
After university, she embarked on her O.E. to London where she was introduced to the world of advertising – working for AW Media Ltd, a media independent company based in Russell Square. She spent her days advising clients on the best way to spend their advertising dollars and her nights helping her media colleagues spend their entertainment budgets.
After four years working in London and trotting around the globe, Kathryn swapped the city life for a breath of country air and moved back to New Zealand, to the small mining town of Huntly. She continued writing and was employed by her local branch of Century 21 Real Estate Ltd to write promotional material, press releases and website content. During her time in Huntly, Kathryn attended the biggest party of her life (her wedding) and experienced her proudest moments (the birth of her children).
However after eight years in a small town, she was once again ready for a change. So, in April 2012, along with her husband and two children, Kathryn moved to Australia. She continued blogging and also wrote articles for websites.
In 2014, Kathryn and her family moved home to NZ and settled in Whakatane. Kathryn completed an online copywriting course through the Australian Writers Centre and set up her freelance writing business – One Wordy Bird.
These days, when she is not tapping away on her keyboard or indulging in social media, you can find Kathryn trying to perfect her tree pose at her weekly yoga class, attempting to master gluten-free baking or dancing around the lounge with her children.
